Effective August 7, 2026

Privacy, in plain English.

This policy explains how the SwayTide concept website handles information you choose to share.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the SwayTide website, Founder List form, optional research survey, limited acquisition analytics, and referral attribution. SwayTide is a concept in development and is not currently offered for sale.

Information we collect

Depending on what you choose to submit, we may collect:

  • Your email address, optional first name, and email-permission record when you join the Founder List.
  • Optional survey information, including ZIP code, beach routine, current setup, carrying distance, product frustrations, hypothetical price reactions, reservation intent, prototype interest, and separate research-contact permission.
  • Sanitized campaign and referral information, including UTM fields, referral codes, the landing page, and the origin—not the full path or query string—of an external referring site.
  • Technical and anti-spam information processed by hosting providers, such as IP address, browser details, timestamps, and spam signals.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information in the optional free-text survey field.

Why we collect it

  • Operate and measure the Founder List.
  • Understand beach routines, product interest, price reactions, and research priorities.
  • Send product-development emails when you have given permission.
  • Consider volunteers for future research without guaranteeing selection or access.
  • Understand which campaigns and referrals introduce visitors.
  • Prevent spam, diagnose problems, and protect the website.

Netlify form processing

This static website uses Netlify Forms. When you submit a form, Netlify processes the submission on our behalf and may process related technical and anti-spam information. Form records are available to authorized site administrators and may trigger configured submission workflows.

Kit email processing

When Kit is connected, the email address, optional first name, permission record, and relevant segmentation information may be transferred to Kit to send consented product-development emails and manage unsubscribes. Kit credentials are never included in public browser code.

Privacy-conscious analytics

The site is prepared to use PostHog for limited acquisition analytics after its public project configuration is enabled. It records only explicit interactions such as page views, selected calls to action, form starts, confirmed submissions, FAQ openings, and successful use of referral-sharing controls. Broad autocapture and session recording are disabled.

Analytics properties are restricted to sanitized UTM fields, whether a referral was present, a known page path without a query string, a broad device category, and the form version. Analytics do not receive your name, email address, ZIP code, contact permission, survey answers, free text, referral code, or exact referring URL. Campaign values that resemble an email address, ZIP code, or SwayTide referral code are discarded before storage or analytics.

Before analytics is enabled, the PostHog project must be configured to discard client IP data. The browser integration uses session storage, creates no persistent analytics cookie, and respects Do Not Track.

Browser storage

First-touch attribution may remain in local storage for up to 90 days when browser settings allow it. An expired record is replaced on a later visit. SwayTide does not store your email address in local storage.

Session storage is used briefly to move your email from the Founder List form to the optional survey without putting it in a URL. A random, non-secret referral code and a signup marker may also remain for the browser tab so your share controls can appear on the success page. You can clear these values using your browser’s site-data controls.

Referral attribution

A personal share URL contains a random referral code plus utm_source=referral and utm_medium=founder. It does not intentionally include your name or email address. Referral codes are attribution labels, not passwords, and no referral reward is currently offered.

Sharing and sale

Information may be disclosed to service providers that help operate the site and email program, to advisers working under appropriate obligations, or when required by law. SwayTide does not sell personal information.

Retention

Founder List and survey records are intended to be retained for no more than 24 months after the last meaningful interaction, unless a shorter period is requested or a longer period is reasonably needed for legal, security, consent, unsubscribe, or recordkeeping needs. Suppression records may be kept as needed to honor an unsubscribe.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe through the link in any marketing email. To request access, correction, or deletion, or withdraw optional research-contact permission, email hello@getswaytide.com. Rights vary by location, and we may need to verify your request.

Changes to this policy

If practices change, this page and its effective date will be updated. Material changes may also be communicated by email when appropriate.

Legal review

This plain-English policy describes intended data practices and is not legal advice. The site owner should obtain qualified, jurisdiction-specific review before a production launch and when data practices materially change.
